Providence Manor & Providence Village
Since 2016, G has been working with Providence Care Hospital and the Sisters of Providence to develop a 30-acre campus of care and social services in the heart of Kingston. The development of the Master Plan includes a 320-bed Long-Term Care home, opportunities for affordable housing, a mental health and addictions treatment center, a YMCA recreational center, a daycare and a hospice.

G architects was founded in 2014 by Matt Galvin and Phil Goodfellow, who each have over 20 years of experience leading the architectural design of institutional projects ranging in construction value from hundreds of thousands to hundreds of millions of dollars. Geordon Green joined G as a Partner in 2016, bringing more than 30 years of experience in construction drawings for major institutional projects.

Subsequent to the completion of the Master Plan, G architects has been developing the design for the LTC home, YMCA daycare, Parking Garage, the YMCA Recreational Centre and multiple renovations/ fit-outs to the Sisters’ Motherhouse to accommodate community medicine and outreach programs, include Alzheimer program, Adult Day program, Adult Mental Health, an Addictions treatment center, and other similar uses for Providence Care hospital.
Providence Manor, the 320-bed long-term care home, is the largest use on the campus leveraging forward thinking post-pandemic design, with resident-centered and IPAC-performance-improving design features.

In the heart of Kingston, Ontario, a major step forward in long-term care is underway with the redevelopment of Providence Manor, a project that blends healthcare innovation with a deep respect for community and history. Currently under construction, the new Providence Manor will be located within Providence Village—a visionary campus of care and community services led by Providence Care.
Designed by G Architects in collaboration with Providence Care, the new home for Providence Manor reimagines what a long-term care facility can be. The facility will offer 320 modern, private resident rooms, replacing the aging downtown location that has served the Kingston community for decades. More than just a building, the project is rooted in a people-first approach, inspired by the Sisters of Providence of St. Vincent de Paul’s legacy of compassionate service.
The design for the new Providence Manor takes cues from the village model of care, where smaller, self-contained households within the facility help promote a sense of familiarity, dignity, and independence. Residents will have access to a variety of communal amenities including dining areas, activity spaces, and outdoor courtyards. Each household will house 32 residents, fostering stronger connections among residents and caregivers.
Client Communication and Approvals: RForm’s intuitive interface can simplify the presentation of design options and secure timely approvals from clients like Providence Care and the Ministry of Long-Term Care, ensuring the project aligns with their vision and regulatory requirements.

Providence Village, the broader development of which Providence Manor is a key component, is envisioned as a multi-use campus that brings together healthcare, housing, education, and social services in a single, integrated environment. The redevelopment aligns with Ontario’s commitment to improving long-term care infrastructure while also addressing growing demographic needs. Providence Care is working closely with community partners, the Ministry of Long-Term Care, and Ontario Health to ensure the project meets high standards of accessibility, sustainability, and care.
Ground broke on the project in 2023 and construction is now well underway, with opening expected in 2026. Once complete, the new Providence Manor will not only deliver state-of-the-art care to residents, but also serve as a vibrant hub within Providence Village—an environment where seniors, families, and community members can thrive together.
This redevelopment isn’t simply about replacing a facility—it’s about reshaping the experience of aging and caregiving. Through thoughtful design, strong partnerships, and a commitment to holistic care, Providence Manor is setting a new standard for long-term care in Ontario and beyond.
