Hyatt Place Whitehorse – Ketza Construction Corp.

A New Era of Hospitality: The Hyatt Place Whitehorse is Taking Shape

A new landmark is rising in the heart of downtown Whitehorse, set to redefine the hospitality landscape in Canada’s North. The Hyatt Place Whitehorse, the first Hyatt-branded hotel in the Yukon Territory, is completed, promising a blend of modern sophistication and deep cultural roots inspired by the surrounding natural beauty and rich Indigenous heritage. The Hyatt Place hotel in Whitehorse, Yukon, opened the summer of 2025, by developer and owner Northern Vision Development LP (NVD) and general contractor Ketza Construction Corporation

The five-story hotel was constructed by Ketza Construction Corp. and developed by NVD, a majority First Nations-owned company, in partnership with Hyatt. The hotel will feature 115 guestrooms designed with inspiration from the Yukon’s natural landscape and First Nations culture.  The construction, which began in July 2023, has involved over 20 local businesses and 40-50 tradespersons.

The RForm Solution: A Strategic Partner for Seamless Administration

To meet the demands of this landmark project, Ketza Construction turned to RForm Contract Administration Software. The platform was deployed as a strategic partner to streamline every aspect of project administration. By providing a single source of truth for all project documents—from contracts and change orders to submittals and site instructions—RForm eliminated the silos of information that often plague large-scale construction.

Inspired by the Yukon’s Natural and Cultural Canvas

The design of the Hyatt Place Whitehorse is anything but standard. The interior and exterior aesthetics are heavily influenced by local First Nation culture, a conscious decision that honors the history of the territory and the ownership of NVD. The architects at LOLA Architecture have also drawn inspiration from the dramatic extremes of light and dark that define the Yukon’s seasons. Guests can expect to see subtle nods to the region’s storied gold rush days through accents of gold, brass, and gem-tones, while the textured material palette pays homage to the distinctive clay cliffs that surround the city.

Construction on the five-story hotel began in July 2023, and this was a major project for the local economy, having already involved numerous local businesses and contributing hundreds of thousands of hours of labor.

What to Expect for Travelers

Located on Main Street, the hotel’s prime location puts it just steps away from shops, offices, restaurants, and the scenic Yukon River waterfront. Upon its opening in the summer of 2025, the hotel will offer thoughtfully designed rooms with separate spaces for sleeping, working, and relaxing.

Guests will also be able to enjoy a range of amenities and features, including:

  • Five hospitality and social spaces, perfect for gatherings or relaxing.
  • An inviting lobby lounge and a complimentary breakfast bar.
  • A seasonal outdoor patio for receptions, offering stunning views.
  • 24/7 food offerings and free Wi-Fi throughout the property.
  • The hotel will also be part of the World of Hyatt loyalty program, allowing members to earn and redeem points.

The Hyatt Place Whitehorse is poised to be more than just a place to stay; it’s set to become a key venue for tourism, a contributor to the local economy, and a showcase of the Yukon’s unique blend of natural beauty and cultural heritage. Its opening will undoubtedly be a moment to celebrate for both residents and visitors alike.
